My Prayer for You: ‘some would rather give than to receive; some would rather give up before they believe’ – b.harper

you opened up
that crimson door,
though didn’t know
what keys were for –
you got hurt,
maybe once or twice
and sipped a glass
of melting ice,
while someone said,
“there’s more to life
than I can whisper
in your ear, so
lean in closer,
have a stay.
I’ll try to kiss
those tears astray
no matter what
you long to hear,
but it’s all good,
yeah, it’s okay,
and all those wounds
have bled away,
so let us leave,
so let us pray,
so let me keep
your fears at bay.

  1. we are recluses. can’t get too far from the web.

i work 7:30 to 4:30. i’m supposed to be in training. most days, i would say i actually do about 3 hours of work. i wish i could bring my guitar and write, but i think that might lead them to think i’m not very valuable. i’m not very valuable.

what is your schedule like? let’s find a bar and i will drink beer and you can eat fried pickles.

  2. Where are you working? I think I know how to make you famous. I’ve been mulling on it for weeks. We can chat about it over fried pickles. There are tons of good bars with good music in the area. Sara Little is coming to town Dec. 7, and I’m going to a concert with her and possibly with Danielle Miller, who is the new Wilderness Director. You and KelKel should join us.

It’d be nice if we could hunt down a good bar about midway between Nashvegas and Brentwood.

  3. What concert are you guys going to? I doubt we could afford it. But we don’t really have much going on this weekend, so if something does happen that is cheap and groovy, just let me know.

Also, I’ve been illegally enjoying Sufjan Stevens for a while now courtesy of limewire, but I’m ready to break on through to the legal side. Where should I start?

  4. Well, it is the holiday season, so starting with the Christmas set could be a good choice, but if you’re in it for the long haul, I’d either go with Illinois or Michigan to just get started on collected the 50 states CDs. I’ll keep you posted as to what’s going down this weekend.
