Sea & Shore: ‘please don’t wait for me, I lost my way again’ – jgarrels

old sea,
you sway your everlasting
rhythmic chant
and beat against these grains,
a countless billion sands
oppressed by the chatter
that foams at your mouth,
an ebb and flow of spit
or swallow
that stains the salty coast
in kelp,
and though you stormed the beach
a thousand times or more,
your swell simply could not survive
without your endless shore –
it seems to be a past
we’ve all lived through before.
